"I dropped into Epic again yesterday and learnt an important lesson. If you hang around long enough talking to the barista’s you get handed all sorts of great coffee to try :)"

You only just figured that out? That's 99% of my sustenance these days ;P

"with a little (read: a lot) of practice"

Bwahahaahaaa ...

"I’m also toying with a third hand Bezzerra BZ99 which I’ve seen for under $1000 of Ebay instead of $1995."

Yeah, there sure are a lot of bezzera fans out there! I'm currently eyeing a Maver Marte. Shots pull very easily, but the stock steam tip isn't the best. Replace the steam tip, or plug up the holes and it's fine, though. Researching machines is such a PITA!

Cheers,

For now I'm doing something right but who knows about tomorrow. I know what you mean about the Giotto but it is a lot of money. I'm also toying with a third hand Bezzerra BZ99 which I've seen for under $1000 of Ebay instead of $1995. Of course, i have to negotiate all ths at home.

Hey Ed,

If you've got the cash to drop on a Giotto then go for it... sweet looking machine and with a little (read: a lot) of practice you'll be making coffee few cafes can rival (coffee permitting). My Rancilio is still kicking along nicely though... with more than enough steam power to make nice milk for latte art.

No worries about the birthday, next time I'll do a blogging postathon so everyone can join in... doing stuff for money eh... you must be doing something right :)

That is very cool. I've always wondered how they did that now i just need a machine that can texture milk properly. This guy showed me a ECM Giotto vs the Rancilio. Both produced the best latte I've ever tasted.
PS: Sorry I missed happy birthday. iIwas sucked into doing stuff for people, some of it for money even.
